Kenya is facing a serious crisis. The government’s proposed tax hikes have sparked protests across the country, deepening fears in a nation already struggling with poverty. These new taxes will make it even harder for families to afford basic needs like food, shelter, and healthcare, especially in rural areas like Pokot.
How the Tax Hikes Impact Everyday Kenyans
Most Kenyans live on less than three dollars a day, and any increase in taxes on goods and services will hit them hard. The cost of living is already high, and these new taxes are pushing many families to their breaking point. Protests are happening nationwide as people voice their fears and frustrations.
For those living in poverty, the proposed taxes threaten their very survival. They could make basic necessities like food and medicine unaffordable.
Healthcare Crisis in Pokot
The situation is even more desperate in rural areas like Pokot. Access to healthcare in Pokot is already a huge challenge. Many residents cannot afford medical care or travel over 80 miles to the nearest hospital. The new taxes are making this worse, leaving people more vulnerable to illness and disease.
Our three medical clinics in Pokot are the only source of essential healthcare for thousands. Every month, we serve over 2,600 people, providing services like wound care, medications, anti-venom treatments, and maternal care. But the demand is overwhelming, and we are running out of resources.
We Need Your Help Now
As Kenya’s economy gets worse, the need for medical care in Pokot grows. Our clinics are struggling to keep up. Without immediate help, we won’t be able to provide the life-saving care that this community needs.
We have launched a campaign to raise $83,345 by September 30th. This money will buy critical supplies, medications, and equipment to keep our clinics open. Without these funds, thousands of people in Pokot will have no access to healthcare.
How You Can Make a Difference
The situation is dire, but you can help. By donating to our campaign, you will help us provide essential healthcare to the people of Pokot. Your support will help us restock our clinics with the supplies we need so that no one has to travel 80 miles or more for basic medical care.
In these tough times, the people of Pokot are counting on us. Please give now to keep our clinics running and fully stocked.
Together, we can ensure that they continue to receive the care they need, no matter the economic challenges.
