Pokot All-Girls School Update

Home > Women’s Empowerment > Pokot All-Girls School Update

In August of 2022, we launched a campaign to raise the funds to build an additional classroom for the All-Girls School in Pokot, Kenya. This came after 18 girls finished their first school year, and the enrollment for the following year exceeded the amount of space currently available.

We are so thankful for your generous support which made this possible as we not only met our goal, but surpassed it!

We know this school is nothing short of a display of God’s power. In a community familiar with teen marriage and early pregnancy, this school is providing a new way. These young girls are not only receiving an education that is changing the trajectory of their lives, but it’s also providing a safe space for them to reclaim their identities as image-bearers of God. They are experiencing community with other girls their age as they share their stories and find support and acceptance in who they have been created to be.

Prior to the campaign, the local government in Pokot gave an additional 44 acres of land to be used by the school. This alone has huge implications as it shows the community’s response to and value of the education these girls are receiving. Our local partner also recently shared with us that there have been new leaders added to the government who are very supportive of the All-Girls School.

Along with our local partner, government, and the community, we are so excited to begin taking steps to grow this school!

As of right now, the details are being worked out to begin clearing the land in preparation for the new classroom. In addition, this land will also be used to build more boarding facilities as well as a dining hall to fit the growing number of enrollment.

After the trees and bushes are cleared from the land, the cement will be poured for the foundation of these spaces.

We have so much to celebrate as we look forward to what’s next for the Pokot All-Girls School! Because of your generous support, even more girls are being given the opportunity to receive an education that will impact not only their generation, but also those to come after them.

Thank you for playing such a huge role in this community looking more like the Kingdom of God!
