In October, we had the privilege of meeting Aminah during our conference in Thailand. Surrounded by missionaries from Africa and Asia, Aminah shared her journey of serving the Malay tribe in Ketapang, West Kalimantan. For over a decade, she has dedicated her life to reaching one of Indonesia’s most neglected and unreached tribes, bringing the transformative light of the gospel to those who have never heard the name of Jesus.
Her story left us deeply inspired. As she recounted the challenges and triumphs of her mission, it was evident that her faith and obedience to God’s call have significantly impacted the lives of those she serves.
Answering God’s Call to a Challenging Mission
Aminah has been serving the Malay tribe for over a decade. Her journey into missions began with a divine call she couldn’t ignore. The idea of moving to a region with unclean water and significant challenges felt overwhelming. But in her hesitation, she heard God’s voice clearly: “Give these people a chance to know Me before they perish.”
Those words changed everything. With courage and faith, Aminah answered God’s call and stepped into one of the most difficult mission fields. Over the years, 6 house churches has been established, and her ministry has brought light and transformation to the lives of those she serves.
Building Relationships and Meeting Practical Needs
Aminah’s ministry thrives on relationships and practical outreach. She created a micro-business platform by tutoring children aged 5 to 13, enabling her to connect with families and share the gospel in meaningful ways.
Understanding the community’s emotional and mental health struggles, Aminah also established a halfway house to support individuals dealing with stress and anxiety. Through these initiatives, she has built trust, met critical needs, and paved the way for deeper conversations about the gospel.
Witnessing Miracles in Ministry
As Aminah ministers to the sick and dying, she has witnessed God’s miraculous work firsthand. From healing to renewed hope, these moments remind her of the importance of her mission.
Her favorite scripture, Matthew 28:19-20, serves as her guiding light:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
For Aminah, this passage is more than a command—it is a promise that sustains her through the challenges of ministry.
The Impact of Missions in Indonesia
Aminah’s journey is just one example of how missionaries across Indonesia are bringing the hope of the gospel to places where it has never been heard, transforming lives and communities to look more like the Kingdom of God.
As we anticipate the continued impact of missionaries in Indonesia, we invite you to join us in prayer. Pray for Aminah and the 55 missionaries faithfully serving the unreached. Together, we can make disciples of all nations, bringing the hope of Jesus to even the most remote parts of the world.
