Sam serves as the Pastor of Discipleship at Scottsdale Bible Church, where he has attended for 12 years. He is responsible for overseeing the church’s discipleship strategy across its five campuses with 10,000 in weekly attendance. Sam is passionate about encouraging believers to increasingly reflect the image of God in their lives. He transitioned to full time ministry after spending over 25 years in the mortgage banking industry. He served on church’s Elder Board before moving into his pastorate role.

In addition to this, Sam is the board chairman for Mission ONE, a global team of local leaders serving in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Our missional leaders and indigenous partners support the expression of the local church in their communities.

Sam was ordained a minister in the Church of God In Christ, an historically Black denomination. He has a BS in Economics from Arizona State University and an M.Div. from Phoenix Seminary. He is also passionate about racial unity in the Church, having created a curriculum designed to help bring the Church together. He has been married to Janet for 30 years, and they are the parents of two kids (Samuel and Samantha), residing in Scottsdale, AZ.
